Fall 2019 team
Ashley Sinclair was raised in Clinton, North Carolina. She is a senior, earning a Bachelors of Arts in Communication Studies. She is also an active sister of the sorority, Sigma Alpha Omega. While being active within the college community, she is currently working for Wilmington Today as a Social Media Contractor. Throughout Ashley’s career at UNCW, she has spent time focusing on Integrated Marketing Communication. She is passionate for graphic design and having the opportunity to hear someone’s dream and developing that into something real that can be shared with others to further improve a business. After receiving her B.A., Ashley plans to work toward getting her Realtor License and also continuing a path in graphic design.
Cody Critcher is a senior from Raleigh North Carolina at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Cody is graduating in December 2019 with a BA in Communication Studies with a minor in Recreation, Sports Leadership, and Tourism Management. He is a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity and Lambda Pi Eta honors society. Cody brings experience as a videographer to the Pier 601 team with a background in music video and concert video production. Additionally, Cody has extensive experience planning concerts and special events. Upon graduation Cody hopes to turn his love for sports and entertainment into a career in a related field.
Hannah Lewis was raised in Cary, North Carolina. She is a senior at the University of North Carolina Wilmington and will be receiving her B.A. in Communication Studies with a minor in Digital Arts in May. She is currently a Marketing Assistant at the UNCW Student Recreation Center. She is also the Publicity Chair of Communication Studies Society and Treasurer of Lambda Pi Eta. Upon graduating, she plans on pursuing her M.A. in Integrated Marketing Communication and pursuing a career involving graphic design and branding. While she isn’t busy on campus, she enjoys discovering new coffee shops, working out, and spending time with friends and family!
Jordan Bell was raised in Clayton, North Carolina. He is a senior at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and will be receiving a B.A. in Communication Studies. He is active on campus as a Resident Assistant, Head Editor for the Humans of the Dub (HOTD) blog, and as the Communication Coordinator of the Dean’s Student Leadership Council for the College of Arts and Sciences. Jordan's main passion lies in video production, as he's completed several projects with the UNCW Athletics video team, the Light Cannon Films wedding company, and his current internship with the City of Wilmington Communications office. Jordan hopes to continue learning and gaining experience through Pier 601. After his time at UNCW, Jordan intends to work as a video producer for a media production company.
Laiken McManigal is a Michigan native who transferred to the University of North Carolina Wilmington. In December she will receive her B. A. in Communication Studies with a concentration in integrated marketing communication. She thoroughly enjoys event design and branding, leading her to a previous opportunity as a Development Intern for the New Hanover County Arboretum and current internship for Design A Dream Events. After graduation, Laiken plans to pursue a career within public relations to continue gaining exciting experiences. In her free-time she enjoys being with family, traveling, reading, and cooking.
Manuela Herrera is originally from Venezuela but was raised in Greensboro, NC. She is a Senior at the University of North Carolina Wilmington and will be receiving her B.A. in Communication Studies. Manuela is a member of the Alpha Phi Eta Xi Chapter and holds the VP of Marketing position. She is also a marketing intern for Tusc boutique LLC. She has a passion for creativity and hopes to pursue a career in marketing after graduation. During her free time, Manuela loves to watch the sunset, surf and play the piano.
Tori Gatanis is from a small town in Southern New Jersey. She will be graduating in December with a major in Communication and a minor in Business. She is a member of Lambda Pi Eta Communication Honors Society and enjoys playing club field hockey at UNC Wilmington. Tori currently does freelance photography for various clients ranging from head shots, family portraits, and event photography. Recently, she interned at The Cargo District where she started and ran a blog page for their website. After college, she hopes to become a Social Media Specialist. In her free time, she likes to watch the sunset at Wrightsville Beach and hang out with friends and family.
Caitlin Durham was raised in Burlington, North Carolina and is currently a Senior at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. There she is pursuing a B.A. in Communication Studies concentrated in Integrated Marketing Communication. Alongside her studies, she is a member of Phi Mu Gamma Kappa as well as Lambda Pi Eta Communication honors society. Caitlin is planning to pursue a career in marketing where she can use her graphic design skills. When Caitlin is not doing schoolwork, she is spending time with her friends trying out new restaurants or reading a new novel.
Edie Cameron was born and raised in Weddington, North Carolina. She is a senior at the University of North Carolina Wilmington majoring in Communication Studies with a minor in Spanish. Edie is a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority Eta Alpha Chapter. As she wraps up her position in Alpha Delta Pi, she will continue a marketing internship for a Men’s Apparel company in Charlotte, NC. Edie loves spending time with her friends and family. She has a passion for fashion and event planning. Edie plans to move to NYC after college!
Jake Fenton was born and raised in Old Lyme, Connecticut. A student within the Communication Studies Department, Jake focuses in integrated marketing communications and hopes to use his degree to leave a positive influence on society. Serving his second term as the UNCW Ski and Snowboard Club President his responsibilities include PR, treasury, and coordinating trips to Colorado for club members. Jake’s interests include traveling, music, and action sports. While Jake’s passion lies in the editing bay, specifically in special effects, he hopes to dive deeper into the fields of marketing, branding and advertising as he prepares for graduation in May.
Jordan Lovell was born and raised in Durham, North Carolina. She is a senior at UNCW, majoring in Communication Studies with a concentration in media production. Jordan found her interest in video production during middle school, when she and her sisters edited music videos together for fun. She learned that her creativity flourished in this area, leading her to create all sorts of video content. Additionally, Jordan has developed an interest in photography and has shot many photos for different events including weddings, engagement shoots, family portraits and more. Media production is her outlet for creativity and she wishes to advance her knowledge and skill set through Pier601. Outside of school, Jordan enjoys going to the beach, hitting thrift stores and spending time with her family and friends.
Lyndsey Newton, a Wilmington North Carolina native, is a senior at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She will graduate in December with a B.A. in Communication Studies and a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Lyndsey is an active member in Delta Gamma fraternity and is the Vice President of Lambda Pi Eta- National Communication Studies Honor Society. In her time here at UNCW she has also been a freshman mentor and a marketing intern for Cape Fear Community College. She is passionate about brand development, fashion, interior design, and female empowerment. Her goal is to one day open her own boutique that sells sustainably made clothing and home décor.
Sadie Adams was raised in Sanford, North Carolina. She is a senior at the University of North Carolina Wilmington and will be receiving her B.A in Communication Studies with a minor in Business. She is a member of the Communications Studies Society and Lambda Pi Eta Communication Honors Society. This past summer she interned with a non-profit organization called Exceptional Children’s Assistance Center. Prior to UNC-Wilmington Sadie attended Fayetteville Technical Community College and received her Honors Associates Degree in Applied Science Business Administration Marketing & Retailing. After college she plans on applying her creative skills to pursue a career in Marketing.
Trey, raised in Carolina Beach, North Carolina, is currently a senior at UNCW and will be earning a B.A. in Communication Studies with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation this coming May. Trey is currently a marketing intern creating marketing content with vested interests in graphic design and editing. In his free time, he enjoys surfing, skating, and spending time with family and friends. Trey’s post-graduation plans consist of applying to a variety of graduate degree programs in a hope to pursue a career in social media marketing or graphic design.
