The English as a Second Language Program at the University of North Carolina Wilmington is committed to providing support, intensive English language instruction, and various American cultural experiences to students who are learning English as a second language, which will empower them to become successful students in the mainstream classroom and productive members of the community.

Our Work

The UNCW ESL Program is seeking to reach out to a broader range of students. Awareness of the program and its benefits are their primary goal. In Spring of 2017, Pier601 students began a project that aimed to reach more international university faculty and students to increase recruitment and awareness of UNCW’s ESL program. Throughout their effort, they developed an email campaign, Social Media Advertising, and recommendations for website improvement. Another product of their work was a short promotional video.
